2010 is looking good

Welcome to church today, and welcome to 2010. I hope that for you the holiday season is still rolling on. Life for most is so hectic these days that it is both wonderful and important to take the opportunity to slow down when it is there.
However, the time will come when 2010 begins in earnest. 2010 is shaping up to be another exciting year at TAC. The sadness at the end of each year is farewelling some. But with this sadness comes the joy of welcoming others. In the coming weeks our new student ministers, Mike and Campbell will begin among us. God has gifted each of them, and they are very keen to be involved with our church this year.
In early February our programs for the year will get under way. Many from outside of our church are astonished with the programs that have been developed, and I do encourage you to take full advantage of them. In the coming weeks we will publish our Church Calendar for the year to help you plan (it is already available on the website).
I am thrilled to be able to announce today that Simon Manchester has agreed to speak at our Men’s Dinner this year. Simon is under much demand around the world as a speaker. He is regularly on Sydney radio stations, a regular speaker at the Katoomba Christian Conventions, for he is an extremely gifted and unique communicator. We are privileged that he has agreed to speak at our Men’s Dinner (on August 7th).
But our year ahead is not limited to any one event. Our church exists to help you grow in your relationship with Christ, and this happens most effectively a little by little as you understand the Word of God. Out of all of the ways that God could communicate with us, it is the Word of God that is his primary means.
I was overjoyed when someone recently told me of their plan to be regular at a Bible study this year, even to the extent of putting in place things that will help them be regular. Their life is as hectic as anyone else, and yet they knew the importance of meeting with Christian people around the Word of God.
This is how God works. And I wonder if I can take this opportunity to ask – how will you allow God to work in you this year?
Raj
