Weekly Blurb A Vision for the Future

A Vision for the Future

Sunday 6 June, 2010 · Posted by Raj Gupta

Today is an exciting day at Toongabbie Anglican Church, for we live in very exciting times. We thought it appropriate for us to pause on this day for a TAC Vision Day.

God has brought us so far. There are so many highlights. Our temptation is to focus on things we can notice – like building improvements! But the real progress of the Gospel is in the lives of people. We have been Bringing, for people have come to Christ. We have been Building, for many have grown in Christ. And we have been Sending people to serve the Lord Jesus more broadly. Praise God for his kindness.

The future is both exciting and daunting. The only certainty we have is that the Lord Jesus will return, and he wants as many as possible to be saved before he does. It is humbling to know that he chooses to work through people like us, His church. But out of all of the possible ways that he could work, this is what he has chosen. And that leaves us with an incredible responsibility.

I am increasingly coming to see this period of time at TAC as a crossroads. God has brought us so far, and without too much relative difficulty. To date we have been able to enhance our resources fairly easily – for example, we have been able to boost our capacity by getting new seats, and we have been able to start new groups of people such as the international group. The biggest step we made was to employ our first ever Children’s Minister – and look at how God has so marvellously rewarded our trust in Him.

But now I believe we have a more significant crossroad before us, for our Family Church is once again reaching its capacity. More significant steps will be required, whatever exactly they may be. People often ask me what the next step is. In part this is why we have formed the Mission Task Force and Property Futures Group, groups of godly men and women, so that they can chew over and pray over these issues in more depth.

However our church future involves all of us, and this is what our ‘Vision Day’ today is about. God has left us with such a privileged job to do in this world, and among the body of Christ he has given us the means to do it.

For the sake of the Gospel, will you be part of it?
