Bangladesh Mission Update

Hi everyone,

Today is the day! We will be catching our flight out of Australia this evening. It seems very strange that the day is finally here, after so much preparation and organisation. Praise God that He has allowed this trip to go ahead!

Everything seems to be in place. We have our visas, passports, tickets (thankfully now booked for the correct flights), clothes, talks, resources, phrasebooks, immunisations, malaria tablets…there have been endless ‘to-do’ lists and last-minute tasks, but God has thankfully brought us to this last day. It seems that we have done (almost) everything in terms of worldly preparations that we can do. However, commitment to prayer and the Word has been the biggest thing we can do to prepare for this trip. Just as we pray to our Father that we will be safe and healthy in the next three and a half weeks, we also pray that He will prepare us spiritually for what we will see, who we will speak to, and what we will be doing.

Some things to thank God/pray for:

  1. Last minute preparation of talks and teaching materials;
  2. Safety on the planes;
  3. Thanks for God’s hand in the correction of our plane tickets. One of our team members had accidentally been booked on the wrong flight coming home!  Things have thankfully been set right;
  4. God’s amazing provision for team fees. We have had some very unexpected last-minute gifts of money from people who, in some cases, have been complete strangers! We are planning on giving our excess to the children’s home as a gift for resources.
  5. Some of our team are ill at the moment - not life-threateningly so, but unpleasantly so! Please pray that God would speed their recovery so they can enjoy and fully participate in this trip.

Thank-you for all your support, prayers, and encouragement. The next time you hear from us, we will be in the land of Bengal tigers, jute fields, monsoon rains, and crazy rickshaw traffic. It is a place where anything can happen - we are trusting in God that what will happen will be to His glory.

Cheers,

Ben, Lorien, David, Sarah, Lucy, Kit, Graham, and Sam (the B-Team)
