Final word from Bangaldesh₀

I don't think any of us can believe the speed at which this trip has passed.

Our trip to Dhaka City was a glimpse of life at the other end of the spectrum. Whilst we stayed in a lavish city apartment, from our window we could see and hearthe slums by the river. It is amazing how these two lifestyles exist in such close quarters.

Highlghts from Dhaka include

  • Getting dressed up ( Girls in their new tailor made sari's) and dining at beautiful restaraunt.
  • Late night sessions of henna(a natural dye that is used to put designs on hands and feet, and also to dye hair).
  • Meeting the Bangladeshi Donald Trump in the form of Samuel Chowdry - He is Vice President of an empire ( 11 major companies ) His Dad is his boss.
  • The girls subjected the guys to hours of souvenir shopping - Leather goods, handicrafts and table cloths - We will have some things to declare on the way home!

We returned happily to the Children's home on Thursday morning to begin preparation for the concert to be held that evening. We were treated to an array of acts. Dancing, Singing, Poetry and their own special breakdancing group. Murrray and his juggling troupe "wowed" the crowd and the team sang a song written specially for the ocassion, appropriatley titled "Bangladesh".

We demonstrated the (rather poorly) 'The Waves of Bondi' to the kids.. which they were excited to learn.

And so.. last night was probably the first Bushdance in Bangladesh!!! Although it was difficult to teach excited children with limited translation - we are sure they enjoyed learning - because the following day several of us walked in on them practising!!

Today was a slower day as some of us were a little ill. But Ben, Sarah and Maram had the opportunity to share their testimonies in chapel tonight which encouraged David greatly and we hope thatwas helpful for the kids.

And so with one day to go we still have church, chapel, rickshaw rides and goodbyes to do - and - oh yeah₀ we have to pack!!!!

Please pray for a safe return₀ we shall see you very soon!!!!

Lots of Love,

The Team
