Food for thought!

As you may or may not be aware, last Friday (30/6) saw the beginning of an exciting new outreach at Pendle Hill High School in the form of a Breakfast Club. A Breakfast Club is essentially a free service provided to the students (and staff!) where a simple breakfast is available before school. The aim is to provide for youths nutritional, mental and emotional needs, as well as give the scripture teachers an opportunity to mingle with students in a neutral environment. We also hope to promote Xchange (the lunchtime ISCF) and One80.
The first week got off to a great start by serving pancakes to approximately 40 students and 6 teachers (including the principal and vice principal!). All the feedback we received was extremely positive and encouraging.
Would you like to be involved? Because you can be! There are lots of ways to be involved in this ministry without having to actually brave the cold winter mornings! Here are a few:
- Pray that we will be able to interact and impact students and teachers who would not normally associate with the "church people"
- Pray that our actions will speak louder than words
- Support us financially (there will be an opportunity in todays church services)
- Help with shopping and picking up donated items
- Come and help on Friday mornings 7:45am — 8:30am.
If you would like to volunteer to assist with any of the above, or just want to find out more, then please come and see me or give me call.
I hope will agree that this is a great opportunity for us to care for our community (Matthew 25:31-46), and share the reason for which we hope.
