Good bye and thank you Olive

This week we farewelled a wonderful Christian soldier. Olive Beverley was 87 when she suffered a stroke a few weeks ago, from which she did not recover. She called home just over a week ago, and we were privileged to host her funeral last Wednesday.
Olive was someone who was committed to serving the Lord Jesus until the day that she died. The funeral service was a wonderful testimony to and celebration of her life of service. Even in recent weeks, she continued to be active in her service. We were privileged to hear of how widely she served her God and her community.
Someone said to me afterward: ‘I wish people would say that kind of thing about me at my funeral!’ Indeed, Olive was a wonderful and inspiring model of Christian commitment and behaviour. May we all follow her example, as she followed the example of the Lord Jesus Christ. And let us not forget where she is now.
