Holy days or holidays

Over the last six weeks we have been looking at the events of Jesus’ last week leading up to his crucifixion and resurrection which we are celebrating this Easter weekend.
As I was thinking about what to write I came across this prayer meant as a call to worship at an Easter Holy Communion service:
On the first Good Friday the disciples went from the supper-table to the cross, bewildered, anxious afraid; to the shock of death and grief; to the shattering of their hopes.
Today by the grace of God, we go from the cross to the table. Not in bewilderment – but in wonder; not in fear—but in joy; not anxious – but at peace.
At the cross, our Lord who dies for us, demands of us the death of all that is wrong in us, the shattering of selfish hopes. At the table, our Lord who lives with us, gives to us the life that lifts us up from death and the hope that rests on the love of God. Thanks be to God! AMEN
I wonder how much we ever pause to marvel at the wonder of the events of Easter – Jesus, God the Son, who took frail flesh, gave his life for us then arose from the dead to vindicate all the promises of our loving God.
Will you celebrate this Easter as the most holy of days or just another holiday?
