This is the title of a slim volume by John Dickson and published by Matthias Media. I read an article on Sydney Anglicans web site about how this book is being used to help the victims of hurricane Katrina in the USA. Over 1,000 copies of the book have been donated by the Christian radio Ministry Truth for Life for distribution in Baton Rouge.

The book tackles the thorny issue of suffering in our world and how, ultimately, the Bible can provide true comfort and understanding in times of personal tragedy.

Hurricane Katrina has proved the effectiveness of faith based organizations in responding to wide-spread disasters. Hundreds of American church congregations have transformed themselves into relief supply centres.

Across the world, the world Evangelical Alliance, the largest interdenominational network of evangelical churches is offering spiritual resources for pastors wishing to respond to the physical, emotional and spiritual impact of Hurricane Katrina.

Another book that is worth a look is “How to be the Happy Wife of an Unsaved Husband” by Linda Davis. In this book she confronts the delicate and sometimes difficult issues raised when a believing woman is married to an unbelieving husband.

Although the book is addressed to women in this situation it contains much helpful advice to any Christian wife.

Some of the chapter headings are:

  • Don’t blame yourself
  • Don’t Blame God
  • Respecting your husband
  • Practicing persistence
  • An honorable calling.

Perhaps the most important chapter is the one on persistence and Linda Davis tells how her husband came to faith in Christ after many years of her persistence in love and prayer.

If I were God, I'd end all the pain is available from Matthias Media.
