Launching Our Holiday Kids Club
Sunday 7 June, 2009 · Posted by Raj Gupta
Just under a year ago, in conjunction with our strategy review, we began thinking about doing even better when it came to our Children’s ministries. Jesus says ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.’ Jesus uses the example of children to teach adults about the kind of trust in Jesus that is required.
Many at our church would testify to the fact that as children they learnt the fundamentals of Jesus, and now that they have children of their own they have been challenged to think about what is important. In a world where parents do so much for their children (and grandparents for their grandchildren), remember that there is nothing better than one can do than prepare a child for the gift of eternal life.
It was about a year ago that we began dreaming about employing our first ever Children’s Minister. Under God’s generous provision, Kat Harris is here. It has been an incredible journey for Toongabbie Anglican.
Today we launch our new Holiday Kids Club. Without Kat, it is difficult to see how we would have got to this point. Most of the team is already in place. The program is well on the way. The logistics have been worked out.
While Kat has co-ordinated the planning, many are using their God given gifts to make this a reality. It is another example of the body of Christ working together to bring glory to God. It is not too late to help in some way – Kat would love you to speak with her.
The enclosed invitation carries more information and the details. But I want to use this opportunity to encourage you to think about who you can invite to come. Children (Kindy – Year 6) will both have fun as well as learning about the Lord Jesus. A special family church on the Sunday will both be the climax and an opportunity for parents to hear about Jesus. Do you have children? Do you have grandchildren? Might they have friends who are interested?
It is another opportunity to Connect in 09. Exciting.
