Lennox Head Beach Mission Wrap–up

Wednesday 8 January, 2003 · Posted by Editor

Beach missions up and down the coast are coming to a close, the following is a report from Lennox Head Beach Mission₀ "God provided in abundance this year, with a larger team, great team unity, and stacks of opportunities to share the gospel"₀

He has been doing a lot of work in the hearts of the campers at Lennox Head, particularly those who come back each year; we heard a lot of encouraging reports about campers wanting to know more about Jesus and His sacrifice for us.

All the sections (Minimites, Keenites, Hu Ha, JTs, and Theos) went really well. A few kids asked for Bibles, because they didn't have any at home, which was encouraging to see. This is the first time we've had a Theos (17+) section for a while, but the two guys who came along were interested in the Bible studies.

The two evangelistic talks (at the band night and the trivia night) seemed to be received well, with a lot of people discussing their thoughts with team members afterwards.

Three main prayer points for now:

  1. Team review
  2. God's work in the campers after we've left; that the seeds already planted would grow over the next twelve months. Leaders will be writing to kids throughout the year, but it's really important to keep relationships alive in between missions. Particularly pray for Leighton, a JTs boy who became a Christian last year as a result of SUFM's activites at Lennox Head: he has stuck with it for a whole year without a Christian family or church, so we want to pray that God would sustain him and bring Christians into his life during the year.
  3. Towards the end of mission, we received a few complaints from campers, and a request from the managers of the caravan park to keep our religion inside our campsite. This has an impact on how we do things like visitation and scooping. We know God's got it in control, but we are still thinking about how to react to this situation, as we normally have a good relationship with both the managers and the campers at the caravan park.
