Making the Most of the Opportunity

On 21 February at our AGM, we will have the opportunity to give thanks to God for his financial provision of our church over 2009. We achieved a staggering 20% increase in giving, as God sowed incredible generosity among so many at our church. Our Parish Council ought to be commended for their leadership in this area, and we should also pray that God would continue to sow such generosity.

A couple of years ago, the opportunity of being a staff member down (prior to Donny’s commencement) enabled our church to embark on improvements of our facilities and since then has been a policy of continual and gradual enhancements.

These have meant that we now have an air conditioned auditorium and crèche room, a sealed driveway, artifically turfed playground, increased seating capacity and more modern looking auditorium, and the list goes on. We should be very thankful to God, for many churches struggle to make such improvements to their infrastructure.

In 2010 we hope to continue such, particularly since we will not have a youth minister this year. Already our church hall has been air conditioned, and in the coming weeks we will continue the updating and modernisation of our church facilities.  These improvements will help us continue to move forward, particularly important in our society which can view churches as struggling to progress.

Last year I asked for your prayers regarding our State Government Community Building Partnership grant application, which if successful would have enabled significant improvements. We recently received the news that our application was not successful.

Whilst this is disappointing news, we have been encouraged to re-apply in the future. I am thankful that overall many other churches were successful in receiving significant funds under this scheme and while we have missed out on this occasion, we can thank God that other positives have resulted.

2010 is shaping up to be another great year at TAC. Financial and property matters are a reality of church life that we cannot ignore, but we must resist the temptation to measure progress purely in these terms.

Gospel progress comes as the Word of God impacts the lives of people, causing them to come to know Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and deepen their relationship with Jesus. In this light, how will you contribute to the growth of our church this year?
