Ministry Training Strategy
Sunday 5 February, 2006 · Posted by Philip Bassett
A couple of years ago we announced our Threefold Mission Statement as we looked at how Toongabbie Anglican Church should be moving into the future.
1. BRINGING people into God’s Kingdom
2. BUILDING members towards Christian maturity
3. SENDING believers into the world to proclaim Christ as Lord and Saviour
All . . . .To Glorify God
A major part of items 2 and 3 of that statement, Building members towards maturity and Sending believers into the world is MTs, the Ministry Training Strategy. In 2004 Tim Adams and Judy Simpson were part-time, self-funded MTS workers. Last year, 2005, Judy continued part-time and Tim became full time and was funded by us (with a bit of help from the Regional Council).
This year Judy has left us for ministry in other areas, Tim has entered Moore College for full-time Theological training and we have taken on Chris Forder and Laura Rowling as part time MTS Apprentices.
Chris will be working in these areas:
- Overall leadership of One80 and associated groups
- Teaching SRE, Breakfast Club and Xchange @ PHHS
- Leading SNC
- Preaching
Laura will be working in these areas:
- Teaching SRE, Breakfast Club and Xchange @ PHHS
- Leading @ One80
- Leading One80 girls group
- Pastoral care of high school-age girls.
- Volunteer worker at Anglicare Street Mission Parramatta.
It is encouraging to see our ministry strategies bearing fruit. Please pray for Chris and Laura in their work and for Neil as he supervises their training.
Pray also for Tim Adams as he commences at Moore College this week.
