Philip’s last blurb

Just in case you were one of the few who wasn’t at our farewell last night. Thank you for the wonderful privilege of ministering to you over these last 10½ years and for your friendship and support.

The Apostle Paul wrote to the Christians in the church at Corinth “When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.” (1 Corinthians 2:1-5).

I have endeavoured in my time at Toongabbie Anglican Church to follow Paul’s example. To present our crucified, risen Lord as the only way to be right with God. I see that as a church we are a congregation of saved sinners striving to live lives pleasing to God now that we have been saved through faith in Jesus. People do come to faith in our church, and having come to faith they do grow in Christian maturity and it is great that our God has made us partners in this process.

Remember our Mission Statement:

  1. BRINGING people into God’s Kingdom
  2. BUILDING members towards Christian maturity
  3. SENDING believers into the world to proclaim Christ as Lord and Saviour
All . . . .To Glorify God

If as a church you keep clearly focused on these three elements you will continue to thrive.

I wish you well in the future. I pray that you will make Raj and Nicole as welcome and as loved as you did Margaret and me and that we will always remember to pray for each other .
