Servants of Christ

20 Years ago I had a magazine article titled, Not Servants, but Slaves published in On Being a popular Christian magazine at the time. The substance of the article is the sermon I am preaching this morning but include with the article was the following checklist for Christian servants. Perhaps you might like to ask yourself these questions?
- Have I made a decisive commitment to Christ as Lord, accepting my status as one who is now subject to His will, not my own?
- Am I consciously calling Jesus Lord but deliberately disobeying him at some point?
- Am I putting Christ first in everything, or only those things where His will doesnt conflict with my own?
- Is my service for Jesus conducted on His terms, or am I trying to impose my own conditions on following him.
- Am I holding back on humble foot-washing service to others perhaps through pride, or ambition, or fear?
- What opportunities for willing service to Jesus are available to me right now — today, this week, this year? Am I using them to the full, or am I letting them just pass by?
- Am I faithful in the small things, or just the big "up- front "things?
