Site Membership - Why Register?

Sunday 2 April, 2006 · Posted by Simon Job

I was recently asked by a member of our Church, “what benefit is there to registering on this new site?”.  So, it’s about time that I listed some of the reasons to register.

At the moment, the list of reasons is small.  Overtime, this list is likely to increase as new features are added.  Here is the list as it stands:

  • Comments left on the blog or against a talk in the Bible Talks section will be posted immediately.  Comments left by people not logged-in to the site will be moderated before visible.  Also, if you’re logged in as a member you don’t have to enter your name and email address when commenting, just your comment.
  • A new feature that we just implemented when commenting on the blog, is the ability for the commenter to edit their comment up to 48 hours after it has been posted.  For this to work, you need to be logged-in to the site when you post the comment.  Once posted, on the comments page you will see an “Edit Comment” link next to your post.
  • Some parts of this site in the Resources section are for Members only.  For example: meeting rosters, PowerPoint song files and details about our church email lists.  So, you have to be logged into the site to get access to these pages

To register, just go to the registration page linked from the main page.  Fill in the form, and you will be a registered member of the site.

Another question I’ve answer a couple of times… “Do you have to go to Toongabbie Anglican Church to be a member of this site?” No.  We’re happy for people who are not members of our church to be part of our online community.  They can then use our PowerPoint song files (providing they have their own CCLI license in place) and more easily comment on our Bible Talks and Blog.
