Something Special
Sunday 13 December, 2009 · Posted by Paul Brigden
From the beginning of our time here, we have been constantly told: ‘there is something special going on here at TAC’. It’s true.
Toongabbie Anglican Church (TAC) is a growing church. The numbers are growing, the budget is growing and the staff team is growing. But these things are not the ‘something special going on here’. They are simply symptoms of what is happening.
This is the special thing going on at TAC: the good news about Jesus is being declared and that declaration is being accepted. People are rejecting their sinful ways and accepting the forgiveness offered in Christ. Christians who are regulars or ‘old-timers’ are growing in faithfulness and maturity. They love Jesus more now than when we first arrived. Consequently, they love each other better as well.
Another thing that is special about TAC is the people. TAC has an excellent bunch of servant hearted people; an unusually high proportion of people willing to put time and energy into the lives of other people here, whether in leadership or other service. We have seen old people who are shining examples of godliness, parents who demonstrate a deep and passionate care of their kids, even when times are tough and young people keen to stand up and be counted for Christ. This is what we cherish about TAC. Under God, long may this continue.
As a result, as we leave, we want to encourage you with these words: ‘Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him’ (Col 3:16-17).
