Weekly Blurb The Next Generation

The Next Generation

Humanely speaking the future of the Christianity lies with the next generation. There is no permanency in our institutions, systems or organizations that will ensure the future of the faith.

As we await the return of the Lord Jesus we busy ourselves in teaching children and young people the great truths of the Gospel. It is important for every church to invest time and resources into our youth and children’s programmes. This is part of the reason that I went to Uganda late last year, to help them in this very area in some small way. Young people are the future of our church, and of the Gospel.

Herein also lies the reason that I have been involved with the kcc next generation conference for a number of years. It is one of the key ministries to train people for the future. People come from all over NSW and beyond to be part of the conference. This year, it is humbling to know that delegates are coming from around the world. This conference meets for a week (Monday to Friday) to train and equip people to be involved in Biblically grounded ministry to young people.

Many who have attended have gone on to more formal theological education, and now serve Jesus around the world.

Of recent years there have been too many coming to cater for them in one week. Accordingly, the whole programme is repeated in a second week. Close to 1,000 will attend over the next 2 weeks (including about 15 from our church). A new initiative this year is the introduction of a stream for those in years 10 and 11.

For a number of years now I have been the Chairman of the Next Generation Organising Committee. Hundreds of keen young adults will be trained, and they minister to thousands of children and teenagers in churches all over Sydney and across Australia. These are the guardians of the future of the gospel in our land. Whatever training we can give them will be repaid over and over again.

Please pray for me in the coming weeks, as I undertake the privilege of co-ordinating this incredible conference. But even more importantly, please pray that God would raise up a mighty army of Gospel ministers,  full-time and part-time, who will be able to advance the cause of Christ in our land and overseas?
