The Unfinished Job

Friends,
Have you ever wondered why God has left us here?
With the death, resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus, God has achieved victory over all powers. Sin has been fully and finally dealt with in a way that was predicted from the beginning of time. People can be saved like never before. The Holy Spirit has been poured out on those who have responded to the amazing offer of salvation that is ours. So why doesn’t God complete it by sending the Lord Jesus to return into our world?
The answer is because the job is unfinished. There are many more people in the world who need to be saved – you probably know many of them. And God has left us here – at least for the time being – to be his agents in a world that desperately needs to hear about his Son. Ephesians 3:10 says that it is through the church that God declares his manifold wisdom to the world.
And if we are to grasp God’s agenda, we must work together to take his mission further in our part of the world. In the coming weeks and months I hope we can begin the process of getting ideas rolling, having brainstorming sessions, praying for God’s wisdom and so on. I have not come to TAC with concrete ideas and plans. Rather we must work together to move forward.
It is now, as much as ever, when we must remember why God has left us here – to finish the job. What else really matters?
