Toongabbie Anglican Church and world mission
Sunday 22 February, 2004 · Posted by Philip Bassett
Toongabbie Anglican Church has always supported world missions. In the past we have been linked to the Newmarch family serving with CMS in Pakistan and Frances Boland with CMS in Japan.
The Newmarch family returned home last year and Frances will be retiring in April. I have been in touch with CMS about Toongabbie Anglican Church linking with a new missionary family and the intention is to link with the Edney family who are currently training at St Andrews Hall. Philip and Bronwyn Edney with their children Rachel (5), James (3) , Stephen(2) and ? (due next month) hope to go to a Spanish speaking country, possibly Spain or Chile, next year.
I will have more information about the Edneys shortly and we will have the opportunity to meet them later this year. In the meantime please pray for them as they settle into St Andrews Hall and that the birth of the next child goes well.
It is my hope that we will also link to a BCA family in North West Australia but I am holding back on this as I am waiting for developments with a very attractive possibility for the future.
Also, over the last few years we have had a link with the Wares family at Oberon. (Do you remember meeting Kevin and Kim and their children at the weekend away in 2002?). They are now back in Sydney Diocese at Mulgoa so I have enquired about making a link with Ray and Lyn Arthur in Maddington, Perth. Margaret and I have known Ray and Lyn for many years and they are currently doing it tough as evangelicals in Perth diocese.
Please remember also to continue to pray for Craig and Kerry Newill in South Africa.
We may not be able to go ourselves but we can be partners in the gospel by our support in prayer, encouragement and giving.
