Weekly Blurb What a start!

What a start!

Sunday 14 February, 2010 · Posted by Raj Gupta

Thank you to all who participated in our launch last Sunday. It was a fantastic occasion, and one of our lessons already is the opportunity to launch each year in this kind of way. It was so wonderful to hear of the work of God in our midst, both from people who have been at our church for many years and also from those who are relatively new to our church.

A particular highlight was hearing of the value that is placed on the understanding of God’s Word, and it was overwhelming to see just how many people are involved in all kinds of ministries (both upfront ones and those behind the scenes).

Our lunch was also fantastic – that you to all those who helped. There was standing room only in the hall, as people from across our church gathered and shared fellowship in this way.

God has been very kind to us at TAC. Next Sunday at 2pm is our Church AGM, and we will have the opportunity to give thanks to God for what he has done. Unfortunately we are not able to offer child minding or crèche during this time.

At the meeting various reports are tabled and received, and elections are held for various positions. Different types of churches have different structures. In our own, we elect Churchwardens and a Parish Council to manage and make decisions regarding financial and property matters, as well as consulting about ministry matters. Our Nominators are those responsible to represent our church in the selection of a new senior minister (I am not expecting that they will be needed this year!), and we will also need to fill a vacancy for a synod representative to represent our church in wider Diocese matters.

Each of these positions carries its own significance, and I urge you to pray that suitable people may stand and be elected to these positions. Forms are available at the back of Church with more information and if you wish to nominate people for any of these positions. Reports are now available either at the back of church or on the website.

We will also use the AGM to share some ideas that we have been contemplating, as a way of seeking your input as we move forward as a church.

It will be a wonderful day, and I do hope that you can make the time to join us as we celebrate what God is doing among us and have some input as we move forward.
