Christmas

Real Meaning of Christmas

Christmas isn't about presents.
Christmas isn't about Santa.
Christmas isn't about food.

Christmas is about Jesus.

Christmas is a time to remember and celebrate the birth of Jesus. Just over 2000 years ago, Jesus (the son of God) was born into the world. He was no ordinary baby. His purpose was to save all humanity and bring them back to God.

Save them from what?

The Bible says:

No one is acceptable to God! Not one of them understands or even searches for God. They have all turned away and are worthless. There isn't one person who does right.

Romans 3:10-12 (CEV)

This rebellion is called sin. The Bible says:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23 (NIV)

Therefore Jesus came to save us from our own sin.

Christians celebrate Christmas, because we remember Jesus, the gift from God, who takes the punishment we deserve for our own sins. This means that the barrier between us and God (sin) is paid for, and we can enjoy eternal life with God in Heaven.

Jesus is the reason for the season!

You can find the full story of Jesus birth in the Bible. Check out the book of Matthew, chapter 1 & 2 or the book of Luke, chapter 2.
